Walk & Rock Step: Potential for Turns
In this class, we’ll explore two essential foundations for turning: turning as you walk and using the rock step as a potential for a turn.
The first will guide us to master the graceful shenae turn, while the second will unlock several stunning turn variations. Both techniques are not only magnificent for solo jazz but are also perfect to incorporate into Lindy Hop and Balboa.
We’ll dive into key turning principles, including:
• Setting a direction to create flow and precision.
• Understanding the role of the neck and focusing the eyes to maintain balance and control.
To cap it off, we’ll put it all together in a fun choreography set to the legendary tune “Flying Home” by Lionel Hampton.
